Fire Safety has an enormous development and impact, not only in construction, but also in now-a-days activities. Albeit the increasing research and development over the last years, legal issues are also another important aspect. Science and legislation fast evolution in this area are only possible to be dealt with specialists accurately educated and trained to deal with the challenges.

Fire Safety Engineering has become a complex and a very important part of engineering drafts. It is of major importance in defining and setting constraints to the other engineering and architect aspects, such as the inside and outside layout, electrical and HVAC designs and the hydraulics.

The legal aspects added to the technological complexity, demand the services of highly trained and very experienced professionals. The final outcome should be balanced between the safety and also the financial issues as well.

AVANTEC has partnerships with the top technicians of their fields, joining multidisciplinary task team to embrace the challenges that has to face. The goal is only one: total client satisfaction with the best solutions at minimum cost.

We have many years of experience in partnership with Layout and some of the best architects and construction companies in Portugal, in designs and sites such as: shopping centres, hospitals and health care centres, the new generation of schools (both elementary and secondary), and universities. For the past ten years we had the opportunity of dealing with major sites such as: Press Centre for Euro 2004 Football competition, Dolce Vita shopping centres (in Portugal, Spain and Poland), Hospitals (refurbishment of existing ones, and construction of some new from tender to opening), Casa da Música concert hall at Oporto, Marão road tunnel.

Foreseeing the future, we are researching new techniques using Serious Games, for training of building occupants but also managers and safety personnel. We aim to use advanced techniques in modelling and simulation, for performance based design, but also for the exploitation phase of buildings.
